The North Parkland Buffaloes Knee-Hi Baseball Team wrapped up the 2000 season with a final record of 14-10. The team posted a regular season record of 12-8 which placed them 8th out of 19 teams in the Lehigh Valley Little Baseball League. The Buffaloes played their best baseball in the later part of the season, finishing with a sweep of a double header on the last day of the regular season. The team entered then entered the playoffs finishing with a 2-2 record in the tough double elimination tournament against some very good competition. This year's squad was made up of five 13 year old players and eleven 14 year old players. Chris Richards led the Buffaloes with a .436 batting average, 19 runs scored, 24 hits, and 17 RBI's. Luke Silverman and Justin Beidleman tied with 5 doubles, Steve Geisel, Kevin Serfass, and Silverman all tied with 2 triples, and Beidleman hit the only home run. This year's pitching staff kept the Buffaloes close in every game. Steve Geisel anchored the staff while throwing 62 innings, recording 84 strikeouts, and posting a 2.71 ERA. Shane Carey threw 44 innings, posting a 2.39 ERA and Morgan Thomas also pitched 26.6 innings while compiling and impressive 6-1 record and 1.84 ERA. Other contributing pitchers were Justin Beidleman, Steve Benavage, Brian Buck, and Andre Burton.
The North Parkland baseball program can be very proud of this group of young men. Their dedication and hard work was greatly appreciated by the coaching staff through the season. Congratulations to another fine year!
